Settlement for Ring customers for inadequate security

June 10, 2024

The Federal Trade Commision (FTC) has begun the process of refunding more than five and a half million dollars to consumers after charges against Ring which revealed that the company failed to properly secure users’ private data. The settlement found that security flaws allowed hackers to access personal information and in some instances take control of users’ accounts. The FTC will be sending refund payments via PayPal to consumers who were affected by the security vulnerabilities. Consumers with questions regarding the settlement should check the FTC website for further details.
